Porter began his financial services career in 1963. His expertise is in the area of estate planning, and he focuses on professionals and small business owners. In the late 1960s, Porter entered the music sector and has successfully represented many songwriters and recording artists.  

He is past president of the Nashville Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) and has received many industry recognitions and awards. Porter joined TrustCore in 1998, and enjoys working with his son, Kemp, who joined the firm in 2002.
