Having been in the business 39 years, Bob Sinclair, Financial Planner and President of TrustCore Insurance Agency, has seen it all. Over the years, he has helped individuals, couples and families determine their financial future.
Someone has said that the expected does not always happen, but the unexpected does.
Bob assists many clients year after year, with their financial planning, but often he provides his greatest service to clients when something unpredictable occurs.
To address every day financial concerns as well as these unpredictable situations, Bob developed the Strategic Wealth Journey. It includes seven steps — from understanding the client’s story to the Total Wealth Maximizer process. Using this tool helps Bob develop a comprehensive financial plan for the client. After the plan is developed, he acts as the client’s accountability partner making sure the steps in the plan are current. They have quarterly follow-up sessions that emphasize various aspects of financial planning during each session. It is more than just an investment or insurance review -- it is a journey that leads to a robust and thorough financial plan.
For years, Bob had been helping a couple with their financial planning. He met with the husband several times a year to review their finances, investments, charitable giving and any life changes. The wife knew there was a plan in place and depended on her husband to handle any needed changes. When her husband passed away unexpectedly, she was worried because she had not been more involved with their financial situation. In order to be of immediate help, Bob facilitated and coordinated meetings with the couple’s CPA and estate attorney. The team worked together with her to handle the many details and necessary arrangements regarding his estate settlement. Over the years since her husband’s death, she has become more involved in the financial planning process. She enjoys the freedom to travel and be involved in her community. She is able to continue contributing to charities that represent the couple’s values and serves on various charitable boards. With Bob’s assistance, she has established a donor advised fund that will continue after her death to benefit her favorite charities.
In 2009, Bob was introduced to a man looking for financial planning advice. He and his wife had insurance and investments but did not have a comprehensive financial plan in place. Sadly, the man had recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness. He wanted to make sure his wife would be taken care of after his death. Bob met with both of them and mapped out a comprehensive financial plan including a cash flow analysis, investments, insurance and estate planning. Bob went through the plan step-by-step showing them their current financial status as well as the future elements of their plan. Bob still assists the wife with her financial planning. They meet several times a year to update the plan and he coordinates with her CPA to have her taxes completed. She now enjoys spending time traveling with family and friends.
Bob could be enjoying retirement, but he continues to stay involved because he loves making a difference in people’s lives. The gratification he receives from seeing how his work allows people to live the life they have always dreamed of, keeps him going.
